Promotions in the Internet Marketing field this holiday season were more prolific than ever.

Some very good quality books and software were being freely given away, All you had to do was register at the site of your choice and you would generally receive an email explaining where you could download the gift or instructions on how you would receive it.

So why as marketers would you give away some of your best material?

Simple…I am sure you have heard it before, the Money is in your List!

By providing your email address you have shown you hand so to speak…that is, the marketer now knows that you have an interest in the product he or she has provided and this gives them focus as to what other material you may be receptive to purchasing in the future.

So not only have they secured your address they also have a reasonable idea as to your interests.

Now we all know that there are many people in this world that will offer their name in return for a free product and then unsubscribe soon after, this however is a small price to pay in the overall scheme of things.

Given that a large percentage of marketers now require potential subscribers to reconfirm their addresses after the initial signup the amount of freebie seekers has reduced considerably.

As one that is keenly interested in list building techniques I feel that the “Christmas Promotions” we have seen this year have been attractive but were a little overdone by some and may not of netted the results those involved had anticipated.

For instance one particular promtion was being touted by many…in fact I received no fewer than 47 emails from various marketers over a seven day period touting this offer as the best going.

Now this offer did contain some good material but I was put off from following it simply because of the large quantity of emails I received from everyone promoting it…I was almost force fed the details when I would rather make my own decision.

I did however take advantage of another promotion, not particularly because of the products involved but to study the methods being used to capture your address and to see what follow ups ensued.

I will give you some additional feedback in the coming weeks as to what efforts marketers are making in trying to gain some revenue from me after I provided them with my address.

In the interim I trust you took advantage where you could and now have some products that you possibly would not of considered in the past for various reasons…remember the products will only provide you with value if you actually use them!!!

More soon….
