Protect Your PC
When personal computers first started appearing in homes, the biggest thing we had to fear was getting a nasty virus on our computers. That problem was easily solved by buying virus protection software and keeping it updated with the new virus definitions.
All things change over time. We still fear getting viruses, and we still buy that software and keep it updated. However, many people do not realize that it now takes more than virus protection to protect your computer and your personal information. Today, we deal with viruses, Trojan horses, spyware, scumware, adware, worms, malware and more. Most virus protection on the market today does not catch everything.
Home computers have the biggest security threats. Hackers target home computers for two reasons. They know that home computers are usually the least protected. Big corporations have people working to protect their systems fulltime. Home users generally do not have the protection, or the knowledge needed to keep hackers at bay.
The second reason that hackers target home computers is that they want the information that you have stored there, such as name, date of birth, credit card numbers, bank account information, etc. You may be one of the lucky ones. The hacker who gains access to your computer may not want your information at all. They may be hacking your computer simply to add your system to a network of remotely controlled computers. They then rent out the networks to spammers, other virus writers, or people that want to launch denial of service attacks. They are in it for the money, not to steal your identity.
Think about this. Right now, at this very moment, someone you do not know can be reading exactly what you are reading. However, they do not have what you are reading “on” their computer. They are reading it through YOUR computer. They are watching everything that you do, reading everything that you type, and reading everything that you read. This compares to having someone sitting outside your house, peeking in your windows, but the peeping tom on your computer can see more, and can see it all clearly.
You already know how important it is to protect your PC. Unfortunately, many people do not know everything that they should know in order to protect their pc’s effectively. First, finding out all that you need to know is a fulltime job. Once you know all you need to know, actually protecting your pc will become your new fulltime job.
Many programs out there are designed to do the work for you. In the past, many of them were too expensive for home pc users to consider. The ones that were affordable usually did not work well. Today, there are so many programs, it is impossible to know which one’s are right for you and your pc. The fact is that too many of us do not understand the technical jargon related to these products.
Unfortunately, we cannot even begin to protect our computers if we do not know what we are protecting them from. We cannot make informed decisions about the available protection software without knowing how the software works.
Joe Robson, owner of the Newbie Club has created a solution called “PC Security Secrets Revealed.” With this information and software from Joe, protecting your pc will no longer be a fulltime job, and you can easily learn everything that you need to know in a very short time.
