There is a lot of money to be made in Internet Marketing. If you think you are ready to get into the Internet Marketing game, you may want to take the time to explore what Internet Marketing is really all about, and what all it entails. While the work is easy, there is really quite a bit involved, and it takes more than setting up a website and sending out a few emails.

It is important to understand what Internet Marketing is. Internet marketing is essentially online advertising. It is done exclusively through the Internet with the use of websites and email. It includes search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, PPC advertising, banner advertising, email advertising, ezine advertising, and a whole host of other types of advertising.

Internet Marketers spend 99% of their time marketing products or services. Sometimes, the product or service that they are promoting is their own creation. However, beginners should start with affiliate marketing – promoting the products and services of other people. This will give you great insight into what marketing is, without making too much of a monetary investment.

When you hear the words ‘Internet Marketer’ it sounds so simple. It almost sounds like you will have one task to do each day – Market – and technically, this is true. But ‘marketing’ entails many different tasks each day. First, there is much to learn, and you will need to take at least two solid weeks just to start researching everything you need to know. That learning process will continue throughout your Internet Marketing career – simply because the Internet itself changes so fast.

Your days will be spent researching new products or services to promote, writing sales copy, looking for or contacting advertising outlets – such as other list owners and website owners, putting together joint venture deals, answering emails, sending email to your prospects, calling prospects, setting up PPC campaigns, keeping records – and learning new things. There are a few dozen other tasks you will have each day, depending on what type of Internet Marketing you will be doing.

An important note: if you don’t have the ability to write sales copy, if you can’t afford to pay a copywriter, or if you aren’t willing and able to learn how to write great copy, Internet Marketing is not the business for you! A successful Internet Marketer requires three things: the ability to write sales copy (or have it written) that makes sales, the ability to communicate with thousands of people each day (their own opt-in list or access to somebody else’s opt-in list), and a willingness to work and learn.

There is money to be made – a lot of it. But work is required, and you should not go into it if you think that money is going to be made overnight. As a beginner, there is too much to learn to expect to profit overnight.
