Today we will focus on Affiliate marketing.
In the past couple of years, Affiliate services have exploded in popularity. Affiliate services cater to web site developers that want to monetize their web site traffic.
Advertising was always big on the internet, but many web developers realized that with Affiliate services, they could make much more than with one or two strategically placed Advertisements. Let me explain what exactly an Affiliate is.

Many Companies that have a product to sell place them up for sale using Affiliates.
The Companies pay a percentage to an Affiliate (You or I) for each item that is either sold or for each client that is referred to their site for more product information. The Affiliate service or Supplier/Manufacturer in some cases posts the product up on their website to allow web site developers like you and me to advertise the product and make a profit doing so.

Depending on exact agreement, if an item is then sold, the web developer (You and I) make a good profit, sometimes 75% of the retail price. In essence, everybody wins.

For instance, if you have a web site dedicated to laptops, you would love to offer the viewers a chance to buy a laptop on your site. However, you don’t know a manufacturer or distributors that would sell you a laptop, plus you don’t want to spend money for inventory just to make $50 profit a piece.
In this situation, you can go to Amazon.com and sign up for their affiliate program. You can post the advertisement for laptops on your site; viewers interested in buying laptops are brought to Amazon.com (a very reputable company). The customer purchases the laptop and you receive a check from Amazon.com with the commission for the referral.
You have now made about $50 for selling an item that you didn’t need to have in stock, didn’t need to worry about shipping and no worries about receiving payments from the buyer. Amazon.com - the Affiliate service took care of everything.
